本作は、墨という物質のにじみやワレといった自然現象そのものを可視化することで、人間の意図を超えた美と、それに向き合う態度を問う試みである。
また、制作においては、作品を額装し、フレーミングするという手法をとっている。このプロセスは、現実の一断面を選び出し視覚化するという点で、写真表現との親和性を強く意識したものでもある。筆によって描かれたにもかかわらず、まるで写真のように見える画面は、「本物」とは何か、「実在」とは何かを再考させる装置である。
人と自然、記録と現実の境界が揺らぐなかで、私たちは何を「真実」として見ているのだろうか。
